Reiki

REIKI, pronounced “Ray Kee” is an ancient Japanese therapy, which seemed to disappear for many years, until it was rediscovered by Dr Mikao Usui. The knowledge of which has been passed down from teacher to student through a special attunement process, which is believed to create and open channels for the energy to flow along. The literal meaning of Reiki translating as REI - the universal energy and KI - the fundamental life force.

Reiki

Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique for stress reduction, relaxation, and promoting well-being and is currently classed as an alternative therapy, but is becoming more mainstream.  Reiki, I believe, is an incredibly relaxing healing energy which is transferred through the Practitioner to the Client with the gentle energy being transmitted through the Practitioners hands to points on the Clients body, it is completely non-intrusive.  Clients remained fully clothed during treatment and can choose to remain seated or relax on a treatment table.  Reiki energy goes where there is imbalance in the body.  It treats the whole person - body, emotions, mind, and spirit, and, for many, creates a feeling of profound relaxation and peacefulness.

During treatment the Client can experience various things, heat which is far in excess of what hands would normally generate, coldness, colours, involuntary movement of muscles, but in the main a huge sense of relaxation and well-being. Many Clients fall asleep and are more than surprised that their hour is up when they think they have only been there for a few minutes.

Excellent results have been seen in clients, particularly for stress related issues and depression.  Reiki works well with traditional medical or therapeutic techniques to promote recovery and to help relieve side effects from therapeutic drugs (such as those from chemotherapy).

Reiki works on a multitude of levels, sometimes following the first treatment, the Client may experience a flushing out of physical toxins and/or negative emotions. These are temporary physical feelings which should be nothing to be alarmed about, it is part of the detoxification process, eliminating blocked energy to support the healing process.  Clients are advised to take the recommended water intake over the few days following their treatment.

Each treatment starts with a short consultation to establish the Client’s mental and physical state of well-being.  The first session includes a free extended consultation.  It should be added that although the Client may have a specific complaint, Reiki is a fluid energy system, this means it goes to where it is needed, not necessarily where is thought it is wanted.

Potential new clients should be aware that whilst previous clients have reported positive results from treatments, no guarantees can be given.
