Inner Child Therapy
I should start with saying that your Inner Child never leaves you. It is a characteristic that is often referred to as part of our childhood, when in essence it is an archetype or characteristic that we have from the time we are in the womb and remains an integral part of us right through to the end of our lives. The secret is to keep our Inner Child in balance by nurturing ourselves, despite the fact that in our day to day lives we may be subjected to a number of negative emotions. The fact is that if you can't look after yourself, then you are not in a good place to look after others, you need to feel good and to be able to love yourself if you want to truly love another.
From the time we are in the womb we register information, thoughts feelings from our mother and information from everyone she comes into contact with, our little ears pick up particularly when there is reference to us, the new soul due to emerge into the world.
This registering of information continues once we have made our transition into the big wide world, the problem stems from the fact that at such an early age we don't have the power to discern. Circumstances or situations happen which constantly register within our psyche, but without the discernment there is no way of knowing whether it is or was registered as it was intended - the feelings that we register can be something as simple as feeling abandoned because our mother has put us down for the night for the first time after we are born. This can trigger abandonment issues all the way through our life.
This also begs the question to what happens to those instances that we have acknowledged incorrectly in our lives, or registered situations that are not in the way that another person intended it. Spiritual Response Therapy potentially recognises and can help us to identify those instances that have been registered and are still playing out in our adult lives, adversely affecting us and limiting us from moving forward. If we take the example we used earlier of abandonment, this could be played out in our adult life displaying a characteristic of being overly clingy, controlling or bitter resentment.
An initial Inner Child specific session will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, within that session we should identify the areas which have affected you and have the potential to affect you, this will be reviewed from your conception and childhood moving right through to your current life and then into your future life within this lifetime. The emotions attached to these situations have the potential then to be released, allowing you to move on in your life.
