My belief is the mind is probably the most important tool we have, it has the most amazing ability to process thousands, perhaps millions or billions of things we do on a regular basis, yet in this day and age, we are still trying to understand what the mind is really capable of.

Our mind is understood to be made up of two main components, the conscious mind, where our will, drive and determination are all situated and our subconscious mind, which is non-judgemental in storing and recording information and also provides the mechanism to allow the things we don't normally think about to happen, important things such as breathing!  Hypnotherapy Nottingham, Hypnosis Nottingham

Between the two minds is a doorway or gateway, which can be accessed when we can make our conscious mind nicely relaxed.  Hypnosis is a tool which facilitates access through the doorway to communicate with our subconscious mind and this is where  amazing things can happen!  In communicating clearly with our subconscious mind, we can alter our mindset and potentially bring about life changing transformations within ourself.

Let me give you an example to perhaps put this into context for you.  If we are constantly told that we are "stupid", when that information is constantly reinforced to the subconscious mind it will believe that this is a "true" statement.  So the belief is "I am stupid!" - just think how limiting that could be to someone.  Therefore, if a situation occured where that person is perhaps complimented for something that we have done, or where we are encouraged to achieve, our subconscious refers back to its baseline statement. So the subconsious thinks "I am being told I can do this - I am clever" it looks at it's baseline statement and then rejects that encouragement because it has the statement "I am stupid" stored in it. Imagine th conflict it can cause in a person and how their life could be torn apart unwittingly by this!

Hypnotherapy NottinghamLets now look at it another way - I love programmes like Britain's Got Talent and X-Factor, particularly when we are in the early stages of the competition.  So we have all seen those contestants who think that they are amazing, so they have a subconscious belief "I have an amazing talent".  When told by the judges that they sing like someone who has stood on a cat's tail, their subsconscious mind statement of "I have an amazing tallent" is being challenged.  They are being told they are awful.  So what happens - well the subconscious will win - they are not going to accept that what the judges are saying is true!

Isn't it funny - we would think that particularly the second example would be working for us on a positive level, but actually both examples show where our subconscious mind is out of balance or perhaps needs some adjustment.

With hypnosis the hypnotherapist can really support you to change those traits or ways of being which are upsetting to you, making you miserable, or perhaps affecting those you love.  I have a belief that energy follows thought and emotions bring those thoughts into manifestation (i.e. make them happen), so that makes me question what are the consequences of negative thoughts and negative emotions?  How do we overcome the barriers that we can create in a negative mindset, or negative habits?  Hypnotherapy seems to be an answer, having experienced it first hand for myself I know it can work.  I think the key with hypnotherapy is that you have to be in a place to really, personally, want to try and have a sufficiently high motivation to want to do it!  It is personal and if you are wanting to make changes because you are being pressured by someone else to make those changes and you are not ready within yourself, you may only gain limited success.  You are the key and it has to be because "YOU" want to!

Having watched celebrities such as Derren Brown, I can recognise that for some people they may feel that perhaps you are not in control when under-going hypnosis.  This is most definitely not true, you can take yourself in and out of a hypnotic state at will, if fact many of us actually do it all the time.  For those of you who drive a car, have you ever arrived somewhere and then realised you can't remember parts or  perhaps much of the journey? If so you have been in trance or self-hypnotised yourself!

Hypnotherapy is a truly pleasant relaxing experience, something like reaching a point of real laziness, heaviness and relaxation, in fact something I regularly achieved with meditation but didn't realise it was two and the same.  So within a hypnotherapy session you are actually hypnotising yourself with the help of the hypnotherapist, they will then work with your subconscious mind to rebalance your areas of concern of for much of that time you may be completely aware of what is happening.  The important factor is, as I've already mentioned, for the mind to reach a relaxed state.  At this points the barrier between the two minds yields sufficiently for positive change to be brought about.

There are a multitude of areas which hypnotherapy can be used for, smoking cessation is common well known one, there are so many other others area, some common difficulties include:Stop Smoking, No Smoking, Smoking Cessation

Truly the list really does go on and on, so if there is something that you have an issue with, then please contact me to identify whether hypnosis can assist you to transform your life!

As you know from my perspective, I believe you are reading this for a reason - so perhaps this is the time to question that statement, is that true, can I can change, is it now time to do something about it?  If the answer is "YES" then with a little help from a supportive Hypnotherapist you really can do it!
